Thanks Martin The sound of the BM2200 is quite outstanding. Rich bass and very controlled, even at high volume. I think I will keep it for my office/workshop together with a couple of S45.2 speakers ... Richard

Yes Martin, the rightmost switch on the bottom row. After changing all the caps I got beautiful sound from the tape/phono and the am section of the tuner but no FM. After 30 minutes with the multimeter I found that the FM switch was open circuit, I tried cleaning it but it made no difference so I carefully took it out. You can then clearly see that

Hi Does anybody have one of these they don't need? The FM switch has obviously been dismantled in the past and whoever put it back together broke the tiny metal contact mechanism when reassembling so a repair is not possible Regards Richard

Most electrolytic capacitors in pre 1990 electronic equipment have reached their design life and are or will soon effect the operation of the equipment. The electrolytes (chemicals inside the capacitor) evaporate over time depending on temperature. This is why you should really change all of them on old B&O equipment. It really isn't worth taking

I had a similar problem to this on a MX6000 and it too was caused by a dry joint. Out of the 11 MX5500/MX6000/MX7000 TVs I have repaired in the last 3 months only 4 had real component faults. The rest were dry joints. Whilst I had the sets in pieces though I often change the PSU capacitors, the elcos around the frame/line circuits and some of the elcos

Thank you all for you help. It was a loose C102 that cause the BU2508 to blow but there were other dry joints as well. I found that gently pushing the large capacitors, chokes and transformers from side to side whilst observing the copper side of the PCB reveals the culprits more easily. Joints that "look" good, even with a magnifying glass

I changed the 220uF. I will check and resolder C26. Is this also on the mainboard?

Yes the green LEDs light up briefly (probably about 400ms) when you select TV from standby. You can also hear the degauss energise.

Hi I'm looking for a spare FM socket (75 ohm). It's plastic and fits in a 19mm x 14mm rectangular hole. I would rather get the real part than make do by adding a secondary plate and using a modern socket. Richard
