  • Re: Beocord 8002 with no sound output

Hi guidovangool , Thanks for your suggestions. R@ does appear to be bad and I will check D13 when I can figure out how to get the tape mechanism functioning properly again. Jerry

  • Re: Beocord 8002 with no sound output

Hi Geoff, Thanks for the detailed recommendations. I was able to follow them and could determine that the head appears to exhibit the correct resistance both at the head itself and at the connector. The probes at ends of the two dark red resistors showed much lower resistance values than shown in your note. Probably means the relay is bad. When attempting

  • Re: Beocord 8002 with no sound output

Hi Geoff, Thanks for your help! I'm not sure where to pick up signal ground to test voltage on pins 1 and 2 of connector 9 on board 2, I just don't have much experience with such. What should I see in the way of signal voltage once I do find a good signal ground? I did pop the top off the relay and sprayed cleaner in there. I cannot observe

  • Beocord 8002 with no sound output

Hi all, I finally received my new-to-me 8000 system (beomaster 8000, Beocord 8002, Beogram 8000, two rosewood M100 (huge!) and four rosewood wall hanging P45s. All the components are in excellent cosmetic condition but I do find a couple of functional issues I need help with. After cleaning and relube the Beocord 8002 appears to function properly but

  • Rather long response the the underlying issue of whether or not a sub woofer does or does not improve the sonic experience

Hi all, Seven years ago my wife and I purchased a 1907 Masonic Temple building in historic Kerby, Or, on the west coast of the US. We remodeled and restored the building into my studio and gallery on the first floor where I design and hand craft fine furniture (http://jerrywork.com) with our living quarters on the second floor. The 1500 square foot

  • Re: 4500, two questions

Hi, Most helpful, thank you. Mine appears to be a one way unit as I see no transmitters under the glass, only behind the IR cover at the lower left to the left of the head phone jack. I did get the tape unit working properly by removing just the bottom cover and, using a small paint brush, applied a bit of lube to the shafts using SilKroil, a penetrating

  • Re: 4500, two questions

Thanks, I did find the correct manual there and it has been most helpful! I now understand how the unit works (I think) and how to make the necessary settings to get everything to work properly. I appreciate your help. BTW, in an earlier response you indicated there were both one way and two way remote versions of the 4500. Any idea what the model numbers

  • Re: 4500, two questions

Thanks, that did it, but the display appeared to showed OP 1.5 rather than just OP 1 briefly. Without a manual these things are hard to intuit. In the files section the only manual listed for this unit is one written in French which doesn't help me much. If anyone has an English version I would gladly pay for a copy. Thanks. Jerry

  • 4500, two questions

Hi all, We are back from our travels and found the new 4500 system waiting for us. The units are superb cosmetically. The receiver sounds great and seems to function in all ways save one. It does not seem to respond to any of the remote control units. I have tried the Beolink 1000, the audio terminal and a Beomaster 5500. The 4500 does not respond to

  • Re: Poor Sound Quality from S120.2 Speakers!!!

Hi Piaf, I have those same S120-2 speakers and they do not sound at all like what you describe. Mine, driven by a 3300, I would describe as very smooth and true. Good bass, but not at all booming and very even mid and high. My suspicion would be the cross over network rather than the speakers themselves or the amp driving them. I also have a pair of
