I've transported mine on the face two times, no problems. :) I just stuck a pillow under the screen.

My avant does not return to position 0 when I put it in standby, and nor does it turn to position 1 when turned on! When turned with STAND << or >> it works as it should. Has anyone seen this problem before? How does one use position 2, btw? I have tried STAND 2, STAND GO 2 etc, but nothing happens. I'm using a Beo4.

I'm having the exact same problem as julefreund. Does anyone else have any advice to resolve it? The Avant does not return to 0 when shut off, nor does it turn to 1 when turned on again. Rotating with STAND << or >> works just fine. Incredibly annoying.

Could be a broken trace. Try pushing on the capacitors while observing the board from behind. Did you desolder the L-signal in both ends? Is this a home made cable?
-
Hm, as you say, it does indeed stay off from cold. The sound I hear must be transformer hum. Probably about time to replace the capacitors.

Is the tape drive motor supposed to be running all the time? Even when listening to CDs? It is quite noisy!

tournedos: Here's a quick sketch done with my favourite CAD program... Thank you very very much, mika, I'll keep you posted! I'm going to visit my parents this weekend to pick up my avant and maybe my mx7000, as an avant may be a bit difficult to drag to and from the electronics lab. (I'm also getting a BC9500 that needs some work, but

Super! Won´t be able to test until monday anyway! :)
-
SUCCESS! Well, kind of, anyway. Just got the controls working via my BC9300. Haven´t got access to my beovision right now, so i can´t test with that one just yet. Is there a chance you would draw up a quick schematic for me to make sure i understand it correctly? I´m not familiar with the usage of opamps and buffers.

Mika: THIS is exactly what i need. I think the data is as you say superimposed at a small amplitude, and i think your solution will work perfectly. I will try it tomorrow. Thank you very much!
