  • Re: Who is Soundsmith?

I just purchased a NOS 20CL cartridge and the firm found a second one, which is available to me. However I have four 20CL cartridges all in reasonable condition and currently in use with my Beogram 4000, 4002, 4004, and 8000. However I wonder if the stylus is in good shape, does Soundsmith replace just the damping, which is a concern after all these

  • Speaker match for a Beomaster 2400

I have an interesting problem. In my quest for the perfect turntable I acquired a flawless Beomaster 2400. For reasons beyond this forum I found myself powering Linn Isobariks, McIntosh ML-2M’s, and a pair of Fisher bookshelf speakers with the 2400 while my McIntosh 2255 is in for repair. My local McIntosh repair shop was horrified when they learned

  • Who is Soundsmith?

I have seen the name Soundsmith mentioned over and over again, so I’ll bite, who is Soundsmith? I realize that I should know the answer to this question, but since I don’t, I need to ask. I just purchased a NOS 20CL on eBay and they offered me a second one today. Yet I wonder even with it 20Cl being NOS, the dampening could have deteriorated

  • Re: Is there a way to play a 12" disc at 45 rpm?

There is NO problem changed speeds with a Beogram 4002 or 4004, just push the speed button, and you are there. Conversely, if you have a 7” record that requires 33 1/3, just press the 33 button and you will be at the correct speed. Everything in life should be this easy! Enjoy your Beogram 4004…. I certainly do mine! Jeff

  • Re: Beogram 4000 Dust Cover

Andy and Lee, Thank you for the advice which is much appreciated. The wet sanding that I referred to is using EXTREMELY fine sandpaper. I start with 8,000 grit sandpaper and go to 12,000. Even so I am not completely satisfied with the results on my Beogram 4002….. hence my reluctance to start on either the 4004 or the badly damaged 4000. Being

  • Re: Beogram 4000 Dust Cover

Hi Lee, Thanks for the tip. I watch eBay daily. I can probably wet sand the cover to an acceptable level, but I have yet to tackle my only mildly scratched 4004 dust cover. The control panel took chunks out of the plastic and that is too much for wet sanding to remove. Still, I could make it better with a bit of effort. I will keep an eye out on ebay

  • Re: free 4002... don't know how to fix it. need your help!

The cost associated with getting your 4002 in proper shape range from a minimum of $50 to a max of perhaps $300. The main problem is that these fine machines are getting old and internal parts deteriorate at different rates. When they were new and set up properly, they stayed that way. But now, in spite of there dateless look, they are getting senior

That your Beogram 4002 works at all is a genuine plus. However you certainly have issues. The stylus may well be worn causing your sound problems. Basically your 4002 needs a good looking over by a QUALIFIED B&O technician. (I can NOT stress this point enough.) Whatever is wrong is likely minor enough: adjustments, cleaning, and lubrication. However

  • Re: Beogram 4000 User manual

Hi Peter, Still no luck in finding an English version of the Beogram 4000 User’s Manual? I only post this as “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.” Thanks very much for trying. Jeff

Chris, Thank you for the most helpful information. It took me altogether too long, but at last I understand. Jeff
