The '8000 is basically a stripped down '8500.The touch sensors are Bf240 (eq BF199?)transistors,one for each function. If only one function is affected ie volume down,,the transistor for that function or perhaps a resistor in the same circuit is probably noisy.Freezer should prove it. Regards, Nick

Still looking for a crt base Pcb for this set.Does anyone have a nos part or praps a salvaged one? Thanks, Nick

Yes indeed, what do you have? I need a slide knob for the tone switch,in black if possible. Thanks, Nick

I had this problem with a "threeview" box.It was noise from the box intermittantly sending a "play" signal to the tv via the Scart cable. Use a good quality Scart cable anyway. You may need to ground the aerial cable if you are using a "booster" rf amplifier. Scientific Atlanta cable tv boxes are haunted in my experience

Got it sorted, but can't get decent photo! Also discovered that it's quite easy to mod the pcb so that the existing line out sockets are at line level, rather than speaker.Doing this means the other connections can be made using readily available adaptor cables. Regards, Nick

I've made a temporary clamper using a lightweight ferrite magnet for my BC9000,until I can sort out something more elegant! It works well, but won't win any prizes for style!!

In the UK and on the case sir!I've found another way to do this too, which uses existing sockets, but just needs a little mod to the pcb.Sends data out for Beolabs with display's also!Just need to test it,but need to scrounge some speakers! Regards, Nick

I don't have the modded BM5500 anymore, but I do have another set.I'll have a look at modding that one,and sort some photo's You can certainly get all the bits at Maplin. Regards, Nick

I used a spare 8 pin din cable that had a socket on one end.I cut the cable and hardwired the other end directly to the relative points of the pcb. There are a couple of components to fit also, but it's all fairly straight forward,if you can solder. The trailing socket tucks inside the connection access,or can simply hang out for connection to the
