The high voltages in tv's attract dust particles, and a fine layer eventually covers the internal surfaces.Depending upon where the set has been used decides what the dust smells of,and of course as components warm up,the scent is given off. I've been amazed (and intrigued!)by some of the pong's emmitted by sets I've encountered over

I did the training course for the 6000 system in '74, it took 4 day's!! We used a Santana album among others to test the cd4 effect, definately the best surround system of the day (or since?) I can still find my notes to the course, but have lost my hair and several marbles since!! I can help if you get stuck. Nick

I suspect that the rf loopthrough was removed to reduce interferance from the tv,as the early "flat job's" even from B&O,were rather noisy!! The rf link amplifier is essentially a distribution amp with seperate inputs for off air and modulator signals, these being combined in the amp, before distribution to the other rooms. It only has

Hello David. I think the BV7 does'nt have rf loop through? This is why they(B&O) introduced the rf link amplifier, that combines off air signals with the modulated output from the tv,to feed to other rooms, for viewing the integral dvd player remotely? Regards, Nick

I've got one Guy,next time you're in the 'hood,or I'll post. Regards, Nick

What's the model No of the tv?I can't believe there is no way to do this!! LG/Philips (for it is they!)make display's for B&O also.No wonder they are good pictures. Nick

They are rather useful, the spec is different to most distribution amps, but not enough to justify the expense.I have one spare, does £25 seem reasonable? Nick

The optical port on the tv is for a digital connection to say,a surround sound processor etc. You can pick up analogue audio from the Scart sockets, but it will be at a fixed line level. If you have B&O audio together with the BL4000's,this can be connected to the aux input of same,to play tv etc sound via the Beolabs! Will prolly sound awesome

I think there will be problem with the communal system, but only in as much that you won't be able to access all the channels. Your immediate problem may be due to "data collision" via the scart cable.B&O use pin 8 of the scart port to communicate with a compatible B&O.In your case, using a Sony tv may be an initial problem. What sort of dish configuration are you using? These old analogue receivers were designed to work with LNB's and seperate polorisers. If you use a modern "switching" type lnb,it could be triggering the set's overcurrent protection circuit.See if the receiver works without the dish connected? If it does, you will need a different type of
