They changed the design of the speakers at one stage as the originals did'nt like high volume levels.I imagine that if you have to replace one speaker, you will need to replace them both in order that left/right performance is equal? I can't think of any "calibration" that could be carried out! Regards, Nick

There is a safety resistor that fails, usually because the main motor or drawer motor has seized, often due to perished drive belts. <:AtomicElement>Dismantling and investigation will be necessary. If you are not technical, you will need to get the machine to an Engineer.

Dave, all is not lost yet! When B&O could still supply a replacement mech for the '9000,it included a ring magnet "clamper"as a solution to the spring clip problem. You should be able to get a suitable ring magnet from a model shop(Bob's Models in Yardley, praps?)this simply clamps over the disc, and holds it in place perfectly well
-
It's the same mech in both machines.Looking at the manual, there is an exploded view of the loading mech, plus detailed info on how to reassemble and align it. I can't scan n mail the info, but could photocopy it and send it "snailmail",any help? Regards, Nick
-
The manual does'nt give much detail, apart from an exploded drawing, and it's crucial that the timing gears are set correctly when reassembling. I have a spare loading mech assembly, salvaged from a scrap machine, let me know if you need it? Regards, Nick

If the problem is due to a ground loop, via the Sky box,you will need to ground the box,or disconnect it from the tv to prove the point. The loop occurs due to the aerial,ml(if fitted?)and scart connections being all common grounds, but not grounded!! The easiest way to eliminate the possibilty of a loop,is to ground the Sky box.
-
There may be a "ground loop" in the system if you have a Sky box connected, and a signal distribution unit for the other rooms! You can fit isolaters to the signal connectors,or ground the Sky box by running a new wire from the metalwork of the box to the earth pin in the mains plug. I've noticed that B&O installers tend to do this

Chris, greetings. The Line in/out connector is a dummy plug incorporating two links.Removing it breaks the connection between the preamp and power amp of the BC7700.As you say,it was intended originally to loop the signal via an external "graphic sympathiser",until these became frowned upon! You can connect signal sources here, but it will cut
-
The standby supply is seperate. This is how the amp is powered up remotely. The relay connects power to the main amplifier. The contacts become burnt over the years. Nick

Steve,it sounds like you might have a problem with the power relay contacts. If there is no sign of damage to the pcb,and the standby light does'nt glow yellow,it's probably not an amp failure.Try tapping the relay,if the sound comes on ok,there's the culprit! Nick
