I did this with a BM5500 to drive a pair of Beolab8000's,it worked well. Essentially,I just fitted the '5500 with a single powerlink socket, connected as it is in the '6500,which is very similar, then daisy chained the two speakers using the standard powerlink cable.Auto on/off,mute etc all function normally. The power amp in the '5500

might be easier to pick up a MCL extra speaker kit,and connect your main speakers to this?Use the sensor with the kit to operate the Beomaster.

As cleaning the crt grounding clips seems to have made a difference, could it be that the connection is poor further along?Check the crt base connector, they are notoriously troublesome.Clean the crt pins (carefully)and check the grounding is continuous through to the main chassis. I've had this problem where it was caused by a noisy chip on the av

Greetings.Do you mean a loud crackling type sound when you switch on or off? It could be the sound output chips as you say,but it's unusual for both to go. A common cause of this noise is poor grounding of the crt metal rim.Clean the gold coloured s shaped hooks that anchor the earthing band, and where they connect to on the crt. N.B. Don't go

Worth repair if the tubes still good. Will need some patience though as many caps will be suspect now.Very common failure is the deflection transformer, but available cheaply. Do make sure you contact someone with B&O experience,as although the basic chassis is Thomson, there are suble differences with the B&O version.

Is it a daft question, but have you tried pressing the 0 button.?From memory, that accesses av manually. Does your set have twin av inputs,ie Scart and 6 pin din?

It's a poorly bunnie is'nt it? Great unit, and from your description,it seems well worth attention.Does'nt sound like a major problem either, but you will need help from someone like Graham, rather than general repairers. Parts are becoming a problem now,but there are many of us incurable enthusiasts about who are able to keep the old kit going

Sorry to come in as "tail end Charlie"on this topic, but if the disc motor can be heard running fast before rejecting play,it may be a power supply problem rather than servo. An easy fix if you can do "fiddly" soldering ? Always a good investment to replace the caps on the servo board, particularly if they are the little blue jobs. The

Does anyone have a spare tone switch slide knob for a Beolit 505? I think all the slide knobs were the same for these radios?Original was black, but either black or aluminium gratefully received. Thanks, Nick

See the user guide re.setting the set to "option 2".In this mode, when selecting an audio source eg.radio,cd etc.the tv will come on with only the audio stages working. Don't attempt to remove the crt or otherwise dismantle this set unless you have experience of this type of work.Tv's can be dangerous, they carry high voltages even when
