  • Re: Beogram 4000 Dust Cover

I'm another with a trashed 4004 lid. I doubt I'll ever be able to replace it - the hinge is actually snapped off - but the turntable's sweet enough that I'm using it anyway, lifting the whole, ugly, damaged thing off each time I need access to the deck.

  • Re: MMC20EN tracking force?

Thanks! I was pretty sure it was either 1.0 or 1.2 ... I note that there aren't any specs listed in the product profiles for this series of carts ... they're getting rare as hen's teeth, so maybe there's not much need for 'em. Anyway, thanks for the reply, Chris! (Nice pups!)

  • MMC20EN tracking force?

Just came into a BG4004 with a 20EN, but I don't know the optimum tracking force for this cartridge. I'm anticipating some difficulty using my tracking force gauge on this tonearm ... wish me luck! Better yet, post any advice you've got to offer... Thanks in advance, all. SDB

  • Question about the old Tangential Turntables ... the 8002, for instance.

If the old tangentials didn't have a cartridge installed, would that make the sensor unable to find the starting edge of the record? Would the absence of the cartridge, for instance, prevent that function form working? The reason I ask is that there's one for sale that has no cartridge; it's hard to tell if the table functions well ... I

  • Re: Beovox S45 repair

Be glad you have the wherewithal to fix your S45's yourself ... I just spent a freaking fortune having mine rebuilt. Worth it, considering the speakers the same money would buy new, but JEEZE!

Thanks, Graham; thanks, Craig. As usual, the forum's wise stalwarts are helpful.

  • Jeeze. Another connectivity question: BeoGram 5500

Can a BeoGram 5500 turntable connect to non-B&O equipment? Or must one have a datalink connection? Seems the dumber I hang out here the longer I get.

  • Re: Loosing my religion

Thanks, Francois. I eXpecially like the way I spelled "especially"! But the post was heartfelt, which is odd. I mean, it's still just stereo stuff, ya know?

  • Re: Loosing my religion

I fully understand. What drew me to B&O, in 1983, when we took the entire final proceeds from a settlement following a burglary of pretty much everything we owned (making us probably the poorest B&O owners in the world!) - was the way music sounded. That, enhanced by the simplicity of use (which my wife expecially loved) made us incredibly happy

  • Re: A quick Beomaster 5500 question:

Thanks, all ... very helpful. I'm looking at this system as a sort of sentimental/nostalgic gift for my wife. It's a little pricey, but ... well, you all understand. I'm partial to the S series speakers - have a pair of S45's (redone at HUGE cost by speaker builder) and a pair of S45-2. Love them both, no matter what they run through
