  • Re: MX4002 link aspect ratio problems

Hi Mark, The 4002 will not show a 16:9 image correctly (I believe the MX4200 will do this). You could change the picture output settings in your Humax and DVD1 to display 4:3 or 14:9 letterbox then the 4002 will be OK, but the Avant picture would then be compromised so experiment and see which you can live with. • Re: Beovision 8 noisy fan

Keith's post suggested the update was for the mk2. Can the same update be applied to the mk1? Earlier posts suggested updates to the DVB software cured the fault. B&O web site says that if you have a BV8-40 and live in the UK you must contact your dealer before updating.

Thank you Keith, Will the DVB update not help the problem? Will the Build 166d need to be done by the dealer?

  • Re: Beovision 8 noisy fan

Thanks Heribert but my settings are identical to yours and have not been changed from new. I found reference to the particular fan noise on the German forum: >>After a while (depending on temperature) you will realize the fan from the DVB-engine. One of the others you can control over the Customer menue in speed and temperature level. I found

  • Re: Beovision 8 noisy fan

To correct my earlier post I would estimate the noise starting up around 30 minutes after switch on. Fan 1 & 2 do not vary in RPM when the noise starts so there must be a third fan. I need to find a way to strangle it.

  • Re: Beovision 8 noisy fan

Thanks for the suggestions. DVB is disabled as no signal is available. This perhaps does not affect the fan? The software for DVB HD is 0.1.3.4 . I assume the upgrade to the latest version has to be done by the dealer under warranty? Regarding the fan settings mine are set to 16 min and 40 max pwm. Could you recommend a speed setting? Thanks David

  • Beovision 8 noisy fan

One of the fans in my BV8-40 is very noisy. Is this ambient temperature/humidity related? The fan starts after about 10 minutes use and the noise appears to be coming from the left of centre of the screen looking from the front. There is another fan but that is hardly audible (on all the time). Is this a quality control issue (warranty repair) or a

  • Re: My BV10-40 freezes occasionally

BV8-40 (same chassis?) is certainly capable of doing this. It seems to happen when the (very noisy) fan starts up when it has been on a while. You have to wait a while for it to respond to any inputs from the remote control. This and the painfully slow response time to change from one source to another needs to be fixed.

  • Re: How to detect 4:3 DVDs on BV7 ?

The TV should automatically select the correct format, but If it's the same as my BV8-40, format selection is manual. I use a PC (4:3) through S video and I have to manually select format 1 every time when changing from another source. Pressing format>go (which optimised the picture on the BV3/Avant) does not work.

  • Re: Avant problems

hfat is correct in that when watching a video source on a (linked) Avant AV>audio source means you can listen (for e.g) to the radio while the screen remains on. It does not switch off the tube and return to position 0. Very useful to know. Like you I have not found a way to do this using its own DVD player for CD's. They presumably made it do
