Also the qulity of the signal is important for the "right" distance, with a HD signal you are happy to sit just 2,5 to 3 m away from your 50" screen, but with a poor analoge cabel signal you which you could sit 6 m away... With my Bv4-50 I will sit 3,80m away, this is still ok, with DVD or HD sources no problem at all, with bad TV signals

yes, I have 3.1, however still quite buggy Karsten

Ken & Massimo, I think the missing bass at 5.1 sound with the BV3 might caused by the BV3 according my expirience switching from the BV3 to the BS3. The BL9 have a lot bass, but the question is it is controlled by the dolby/DTS prozessor as the seperate sub signal needs to mixed to the fronts. From my expirience the BV3 did not do a perfect job

Something you may want to check out is the sourround performance of the BV3. I replaced my fantastic BV3-32 with a Beosystem 3 last week. After the first seconds of the first Music DVD (Eagels HD-DVD) I realized a huge differnce in the bass performance of the lab5 I have as front speaker. Much more bass than with the BV3! back to your question, the

From my expirience this very much depends on the display and the scaler and deinterlacer of both devices. Sometimes you get a better picture if you feed 1080p to a HD-ready display (1280x720 or so) and the display has to do some "donwsizing", sometimes 575p (PAL) is just better. With my BS3 conneted to a Full HD Projector on a 2,44m screen
