Interesting that you should mention negotiating price vs service as this is exactly what I've done in the US. I believe I received 15% off on my Bs5 by installing it myself (I could be off a few percent). It also helped that I had already bought a lot from this dealer. Although last time I spoke to the dealer about potentially buying some bl9s,

I have 2, the first is older and had an issue and was fixed. The 2nd is newer and has not had any problems. The newer one is my alarm clock. The older I use around the house/yard. So, I guess my answer is no... But time will tell... Stan
NO additional " Apple Lossless" codecs installed. .m4a files are NOT recognized by the WMP on the BM5 For sure, the files were started in the BS5 menu.
Would you mind posting the software version of your BS5?

It is true that there are 2 different BS1 models, one with the timer, one without. I also have an early BS1 without the timer option. This was discussed on the forum years ago, and, if I recall correctly, there is no upgrade option. Stan

I would think that if the software update officially supported Apple lossless, then the "latest release" screen would say so. It must be some got the wrong version - I recall a few releases ago, I was "lucky" to get a newer release that had some new feature, but also crashed a lot and didn't work that well... However, it is nice
I think it would be funny if they reduced the gaps without eliminating them.
Do you mean like FLAC? Stan

Doesn't work for me . The songs show up, and the bs5 pretends to play them, but no sound comes out of the speakers. My bs5 was showing the update screen when i looked at it his morning so i do have whatever release was just pushed out. Also, it doesnt surprize me that beoconnect doesnt recognize the ALAC file type - last i checked, it did not support

I used my $100 gift card to help finance a beo6 for two way control of my BS5. Outstanding! Don't remember if I already posted this and I'm too lazy to search, but over the summer I bought a pair of BS1s. Love 'em. Not sure why many people do not. Then again, I got them for a very good price so maybe that factors into my thinking vs. others

My guess is that heat is one of the limiting factors for the blurry scrolling album covers. Moving those covers requires a bit of computing power, computing power generates heat which must be reliably removed or else the hardware will fail. The BM5 has the luxury of a fan (maybe - I assume it has one, but then again, I've never heard mine so maybe

192.168.0.x is not manditory. I have my Beo6 working on a 10.0.1.x network. I have a hard time believing this would be a dhcp issue. I mean, afaik, dhcp has been working pretty flawlessly for maybe 10 yrs or so (note the poster's comment that other cheap devices connect with no issue)... I have a hard time believing B&O would mess it up. I would
