Are the HDMI devices connected directly to the Beosystem-3 or using the Gefen HDMI switcher? Some set top boxes have problem with HDMI and don't connect reliably using a switcher. Regards, Jean

355f: Why is the connection time longer? and why is it that with every other product that uses HDMI there is no issue. The 'handshake' takes about 1 second! If the pixelisation is the fault of the cable company why is it other brands dont suffer to the same degree?? I own the North American version of the Beovision-7, so it's possible that

darioazul: Dear Jean & All: Thank you for the helpful ideas. Jean, about how much was the whole package from Detoma. I seems like the best solution. Thank you, Dario You have mail! Jean

moxxey: BTW, sorry if I wasn't clear....when I said 'a LOT longer', above, I meant since it has been upgraded to sw 4.01. Sky HD used to start immediately - within a couple of seconds of pressing the button on the Beo4. Now it's around 10-12 seconds! If the set top box is connected to the TV using an HDMI cable, the connection time is

DoubleU: To straighten this all out: http://www.detoma.com/download/A102_e.pdf Very good amp, with zero knobs. This amp will follow any B&O device through the PL-out. I also recommend it! I have one connected to my BV-7 to drive a pair of passive loudspeakers. Switching at power on/off is fully automatic with no annoying noises. Detoma converted

Many thanks for this very interesting repair guide! I also have to fix my VX-5000 (North American) and I will use these repair instructions, particularly for the capstan motor. On the last picture, I recognize again the usual culprits: these horrible black Rubycon capacitors! Regards, Jean

"Analog/SD programming doesn't look as good. OK, but it doesn't look as good on ANY LCD I've seen. It never will. I ask those of you who are old enough (like me) to think back to the transition from B&W to color broadcasting. It really isn't fair to criticise a new TV for not being any better with an outgoing format. BV-7 does

Probably some capacitors on the audio/video switching board are beginning leaking. S-Video and RGB use a different signal path than plain composite. Does the tuner works ? I have written a repair guide for this TV and it is on the reference section of this site. Good luck! Best regards, Jean

Compare the two TVs side by side and decide by yourself. This is the best advice. Bring your own DVDs for testing and check with HD programming as well. Good luck! Jean Vezina

moxxey: Beofan2: I was told today that, probably, BV8 and BV7 will be launched with new larger screens. BV8 - 40 and BV7 - 52. BC6 -23 will be discontinued. Personally, I doubt I'd like to see a BV7-52 (LCD) screen as my current BV7-40 MKIII already struggles with SD, particularly fast-moving SD. Increase the size of the screen further and this
