I think these are generally reliable. There have been different eyes - check out the other threads with a search! The ylook similar but there have been some internal differences I believe (I am stil trying to understand the eyes!). The main thing to look out for is to check you are not buying the MCL2P (only later versions of which had a Powerlink socket

Unlike some of the later models you can access most of the necessary controls on the frop down panel. From memory I think it is only the bass, treble, loudness and clock functions that are only available on the MCP (ie the Terminal 5000 is best suited to use in another room with an MCL82). Brian

Neil, What do you need as an input to try out the audio mode? Brian

To properly connnect to an MCL2A you should be using the 3 pin plugs that should only fit in the second set of speaker outputs, the first set are desinged for Pentas I have never heard of being partially enabled for multi room use. Which manual do you have? Brian

I am planning to hang on to the Avant for a while longer. Do not forget that the comments from US users about quality will not apply to the same extent in the UK as we run PAL (625 lines) rather than NTSC (550 lines) so HD is more necessary in the USA! Brian

I will watch out for a Carbon footprint - but as yet have never actually seen one (see pet hates on the earlier message!). Surely you will have to walk to leave a footprint Carbon or anyother! Perhaps you mean that you will leave a caron dioxide and/or monoxide trail. Brian

I realise that everyone will have a different take on this but I have just looked on the BBC (Biased Broadcasting Corporation) web site at an Antipodean group that switched off their lights - but lit candles instead!!???
