  • Re: Philips prestigo universal remote

Hi Ben, I'm not unhappy with mine so far - those niggles weren't deal-breakers for me. If all you have is B&O then a Beolink 1000 off eBay is a much better buy and cheaper too. If like me you have a slew of non-B&O as well then it starts to make more sense, and more sense than a one-4-all-except-one. I think the Beo5 is more than just

  • Re: Philips prestigo universal remote

Hi, Many thanks for the heads up on this thing. With nine remote controls taking over a side table here, I had to do something about the clutter sooner or later, so I bought a Prestigo yesterday. £99.95 from Richer Sounds (though it's a tad cheaper on Amazon.) Here's what I think of it so far.... A brief overview of the Philips Prestigo

  • Re: beocenter 9500

Hi Mike, Not specific to the doors, but when you remove the screws and lift the entire top panel up into the servicing position the arm that props the panel up is secured to that panel by a little plastic clip. This clip (looks exactly like a household cable clip) will probably be brittle from age and heat and VERY vulnerable to snap, letting the panel

If B&O fail to come through with a belt, try eBay item 120194943994 from Roland Meyer. I've bought from him before, no problems, even accepted PayPal after emailing first. Good luck, Steve

  • Re: Still can't stop buying old B&O!!

This makes me feel SO much better - thank you! I'm a sucker for black and teak B&O, it just looks so right on teak G-Plan. A rather modest two BeoSystem 1000's and a BeoSystem 2000 installed in the living room wall units, and a BeoSystem 1001 in the bedroom. Looks so right. I need more. Cheers, Steve

  • Re: how much for beocenter 3500 and speakers

Agreed that this seems like a good buy. Really nice piece of kit - should sound great. Absolutely essential that the transport screws for the deck are done up before moving it. I have heard that the heavy 3000 deck that this has is capable of colliding with the components of the amp downstairs if transported carelessly. Deffo not a good thing! Cheers

  • Re: Strange Beomaster 1000 - rare or what?

Aha! Many thanks for that, Peter. Lots of Beomaster 1000s indeed! I had figured the black keys were correct because the chap had it from new from the B&O dealer. The one they had for evaluation was a white key model and the new one they installed after was this black key model - must have been one of the first ones out. It did look odd though when

  • Re: Strange Beomaster 1000 - rare or what?

Hi Andy, Thanks, yes - you're right. The white key model came first, had germanium transistors and the RIAA was on a separate PCB next to the stereo decoder for the radio. The black key model came next, had silicon transisters, and the RIAA was integrated into the motherboard. A separate RIAA could still be fitted to the black key model, and that

  • Strange Beomaster 1000 - rare or what?

So there I am, doing my good deed for the day, putting a new set of lamps into this chap's Beomaster 1000 for him. Part of a complete Beosystem 1000 owned from new, including a Beocord 1500 and Beovox 1500's, all nice and minty other than the Beomaster's black plastic faded somewhat after years of sunlight. Going by the dust in there, I
