  • Re: RL140s Restoration?

1)Yes 2)No 3)They are a *** to get out if they are the earlier versions, but they will, you need to use huge long screwdrivers to lever them out, and yet you have to be incredibly gentle and careful. 4) The speaker coils are close, recommend you contact Martin and do a swap out - return yours for some replacements and a reasonable fee 5)

  • Re: Beogram 3000 Acoustical - anyone on here?

Agree, this is a 'buy it and then book a days holiday to collect it' job - you would not risk it to shipping. You might see another on EBAY, but don't count on it.

  • Re: A8 fakes?

The only way to know if you are getting genuine B&O A8's is to purchase from a B&O dealer. Those are very convincing ones, real or fake. Used to be that you could recognise the fakes without to much trouble, but its getting harder and harder, and who is to say that the seller has taken pictures of genuine ones, and will send you fake ones

  • Re: Where does this go?

I'm wondering if its off the tuning mechanism, a small magnet to create artificial drag on the tuning wheel. I have seen little magnets used to act as tuning wheel tacho actuators, but I have not opened my BM6000 yet.

If you do a search in EBAY but for a Revox power lead, you'll find what you need

  • Re: 'Højttaler' speakers

The speaker cones are all paper, no rubber surrounds, and they have to be repaired in a differant way as a result. It sounds very much like the edges of the cones have given way, the paper flexes and literally wears out. They can be repaired by someone like Wembley loudspeakers but you then have to decide if its worth it. These are such low power speakers

  • Re: 'Højttaler' speakers

You may well find the scratchy sound is because the paper cone on one of the larger elements has worn through. These things are all paper cones, and over time they flex and wear out, especially if they are driven hard, and its not difficult to overdrive them, since they are such low power speakers. These can be repaired but you have to wonder about

  • Re: 'Højttaler' speakers

They are ok on lo power applications, I think they can take around 5or 6 Watts. For that you get quite a bit of sound as they are fairly efficient. The backs come off quite readily, you will need to wear some long sleeved gloves or you will be itching for a week from the rockwool filling. You will need to remove the rockwool filling, it's glued in

  • Re: Which B&O receiver offers

I think you might be looking at something rather older, the Beolab 5000

  • Re: Restoring teak speaker cabinets

I would also check out the values of the crossover resistors, you may well find they are quite a long way out, the capacitors will also need replacing. Once the crossover network has been reworked you'll find they sound an awful lot better. Wish I could remember the values but if I remember, they are not standard values and you will have to mix
