  • Re: Put new belts on BM1700

How do you get the belt holders apart to get a belt loop in place ?

Is there a way to get the belt holder apart so you can try out differant materials, I have one that has a broken belt but I can't split it to try anything else out.

  • Re: Beovox 3800 v 5700

I have just taken a look at mine, and they seem to be some sort of shiny black stuff. I'm not sure if this is just some sort of coating, it is very plasticky or if the cone is completely made of it. The surrounds are neither rubber, nor foam, again some sort of soft black plastic stuff. I remembered after looking at them, that it not the tweeters

  • Re: Beovox 3800 v 5700

I have just tried them out side by side, the 3800s were sat on a pair of Beovox 5000s so they were effectively on a stand, and the mid to upper range elements were, to all effects, at the same height as the Pentas. First thing is that I was surprised at how lively the amp is, its a truism that a good amp can make average speakers sound better. I would

  • Re: Beovox 3800 v 5700

Personally I find the sound from the 3800 more neutral, (some might describe it as 'clinical') than the Beovox Pentas. Mind you, I have been driving them from very differant amplifiers, Beolab 5000 for the 3800 and Beomaster 6500 for the Pentas. I have the Pentas disconnected at the moment whilst I decorate, but the good news is that they are

  • Re: Beovox 3800 v 5700

If you drive the 3800 very hard with certain types of music it can damage the tweeters. They sound a quite a bit more top end than the 5700. The 5700 are probably not as good as the 3800 at low sound levels, but crank up the volume and the 5700 are rather better, you'll need a big room though, and you might want to stand a goodly distance away because

  • Re: Info required for multiplex module...anyone?

I happen to have a copy of the circuit diagram for the decoder for both the Beomaster 900 and Beomaster 1000, would they be any use??

  • Re: Beocenter 2800 controls

Sounds like the latching mechanism for those switches is gummed up,, probably the old lubricant has gone hard with age. I'd expect that a clean out with switch cleaner, not in the switches themselves but on the moving parts will sort this out.

  • Re: The essentials!

I personally think that the Beolab 5000 system, along with the stereo spatial width control, Beovox 5000 Beovox 2500 is a great suggestion, I wish I could get my hands on the BeoThoren turntable, but I can compensate myself by having the Beogram 3000 Acoustical, which might even be rarer. I'd also strongly recommend a reel to reel machine with this

  • Re: Sparking between head-shield and backplate on Beocord 1600

I've found that replacing these big old caps in the original retainers by fitting more modern caps to be awkward, its surprising just how far materials science has moved on, and how much smaller the newer ones are. One option is to use some 2mm rubber sheet to fill out the gap you just wrap it around to the desired width.
