Well I managed to polish my Beogram 4000/4002, Beocord 5000 lids quite effectively and they look nice and shiny again with the same techniques I used for the 5005. Only, they will not recover full transparency; there is a slight haze that can't be completely gotten rid of.
I want that "as new" transparency

Please don't keep encouraging this guy, it's not even funny any more. In fact he is pissing me off to such an extent that I may just never buy anything American ever again. He is talking the same anti-capitalist crap that we hear from those idiots who are currently living in tents near the entrance to St Pauls Cathedral. He may even be living

Because of the difficulties that I have experienced while trying to remove scratches by polishing using a variety of techniques and materials, I sent a Beogram 6000 dust cover to a professional outfit. They informed me that the originals are made from polycarbonate not acrylic and virtually impossible to restore to "new" condition. I was told
I may get shot here, but it wasnt Margret Thatchers fault that the mines closed and the fact we haven't any uk owned vehicle manufacturers left anymore. It was down to the fact that these people were on very good money £30k for a miner (I think) in the late seventies early eighties and they still wanted more

The metallwork will fit just fine. The plastic underside to the CD lid will need to be transferred from the 9500 panel to the 9000 panel to retain activation of the clamping mechanism. It is held on with double sided tape so not too much of a problem. Yes, I have done it but only as an exercise to see if it worked.
I don't agree. Whilst there may heve been a few digs & jibes, it's an interesting discussion based around some opposing views.
It was but it's not now. They both have more money than sense and should have left this sort of exchange behind in the playground!
