  • Re: Which Oil?

The beauty of French polishing is it really enhances the natural grain & figuring of wood & gives a tough long lasting & easy to maintain finish. It requires stripping off any old polish & varnish back to bare wood - use the finest grit sandpaper you can get a way with, it saves effort in the long run. Some woods such as rosewood may

  • Re: Which Oil?

Danish oil seems to be the choice of many of Beoworlds speaker restorers Stephen. You need to keep up with it though, re-apply annually I believe. Personally I always French polish my speaker restorations but this is quite intensive to get right finish. Well worth the effort though. Teak has quite an open grain for a hardwood so it isn't unusual

  • Re: Holmfirth, West Yorkshire meet up - Pint or two

My old man used to driive for Wallace Arnold ferrying the cast of LOTSW around Holmfirth - Peter Sallis (also the voice of Wallace for those who don't know) was his co-driver. I could be persuaded to join you on trip down memory lane. I am a Leeds lad though so you'd have to put up with my air of supporting 2 superior sports teams (LUFC &

  • Re: Refoaming Beovox S80

Congratualtions Leslie I'm sure you are happy with your method of refoaming - but you should see the state of some CX50/100 drivers I have received which were refoamed using the "shimless" method. Just because you claim it as being successful for you doesn't make it the correct way of doing things. The bottom line is that shims should

  • Re: Refoaming Beovox S80

I feel the need to add my own comments here. Experience has taught me that whenever possible you should ALWAYS shim when refoaming drivers. It is the ONLY way to guarantee correct coil centering & height of the cone when attaching the surround. I use strips of acetate sheet. OK - there may be certain drivers where this isn't possible but this

[quote user="beocool"] [quote user="Medogsfat"] There are massive differences in cars from one manufacturer to the next. I currently drive a BMW 3 series & cannot wait for the day it blows up & I can go back to driving Audi's. Anyone who has tried to drive a 3 series BMW with 255 wide rear tyres in the snow will know

  • Re: S-55 woofer reconing/refoaming service reccommendations

Welcome to Beoworld rick48. While you're at it I would recommend replacing the capacitors in the crossovers, it will make a very noticable difference. Don't bother connecting these to your Becenter 2200, they will be wasted on it. The BC2200 is simply a reboxed Sony with a quite nice B&O turntable section bolted on. The speakers originally

  • Re: Grounding BG1700 to BM901

Why RCA? I can only assume someone has removed the original plug? The original output lead of the BG1700 had a DIN plug - the outer metal casing/shield of the DIN plug is the grounding point to the input socket on the 901. Chris.

  • Re: Beomaster 8000 connection to Pentas II

Take out the Lab 150 amps & displays & sell them on ebay. This will give you a pair of passive penta's making best use of your set up & you will probably also get more money for these than you paid for the entire speakers in the first place. Chris.
