Hi Simon, may have got he wrong arm... B&O were twix and between arms and cartridges at the time. I take it this is the thin arm but with the MMC20* type cartridge? A couple of things (ignore them if you've already done so and they are tooooo obvious just trying to cover bases): Are the transport screws properly down? Will the arm lower beyond

There is suppose to be a learning therapy for this but it's all new to me. Mostly I get a high pitched capacitor whine when all around is silent ie. sleep time. Noise, kids, music is the best distraction but makes language difficult since I'm at the one person at a time stage and any additional sounds make it difficult.

I seem to remember a post ref tinitus on the last forum many members had problems with this "silent" problem myself is now included thank goodness for music!

Well it's probably a major feature and sometimes shooting B&O in the foot but I like the fact that their gear, even the modern stuff is meant to be repaired. A feature lost in the if it's broke chuck it out and go to Dixons society we live in.

I find the whole sound crisper and with my BG4000 the bass is still there. It gives a whole new feel to an LP but does pick up the blemishes more. If I remember a post Peter made on the last forum this is down to the needle getting deeper into the groove. I do have one on a second deck which you could try out. I suspect though the best solution would

If it's the dreaded foam rot it's not that hard and usually cheaper to fit new surrounds. Can't help with your original question though sorry
