• Re: Macworld Review Beolit 12: 4 out of five

I am looking to create a AE driven BeoSound 8 setup myself. I agree with the BeoLit 12 issue about powering up however I have found a temporary solution. I operate the Beolit 12's now via Airfoil Speakers and Airfoil Reemote. Under this setup if you activate the speakers, even if the sound source is turned off. The Belit 12's stay active all

  • Re: BS5 supports Apple Lossless

I suspect this is due to Apple recently making the ALAC codec open source and there is also rumour that the codec is capable of supporting High Res recordings. This could be the beginning of something for all those Apple Audiphiles! Just my twopeneth C.

  • Re: Beolit 12 Normal Behaviour?
I take it that in your scenarions there are no BeoVisions and no link room speakers ? I think you will be kept svelt-like just by working hard to be able to afford all the kit you need to able to relax properly :-)
You assume correctly, there are no other B&O items involved although I shall soon be employing

  • Re: Beolit 12 Normal Behaviour?

Here are two scenarios which indicate why I believe the Beolit 12, if it continues to adopt its current mode of operation, will never catch on... Scenario 1: I am in one of the lounges or a snug room. I have just watched a great film and am comfortably ensconsed in my lovely warm sofa. I decide that I would like to listen to some soothing music whilst

  • Re: Beolit 12 Normal Behaviour?

I accept the point that this is related to how Airplay works but it is reasonable to expect that a device in order to show up on a wireless network needs to be powered and 'on'. The only reason that the Beolit 12 drops off the wireless network is because it powers down by itself even when connected via mains. I will be very surprised if B&O

  • Re: Beolit 12 Normal Behaviour?

Agreed. This kind of 'poor user experience' is exactly why I believe Apple are beginning to corner this market - they are very good at making sure the 'user experience' is as seamless as possible. The product may be great, but if my experience of using it is 'nigglesome' I quickly tire. I too can understand a device in battery

  • Re: MacMini into a Beosound 8 - How feasible?

Like rikarde, I intend to control the Beosound 8 from my iPhone using the Apple Remote and Airfoil Reemote. One app allows music and playlist selection and the other connects to various speakers throughout the house (now supplemented with 2 x Beolit 12's). This means I have around the house music all controlled from my iPhone. Chris (p.s. although

  • Re: Beolit 12 Normal Behaviour?

I am now beginning to consider this 'feature' a 'major flaw' in the Beolit's operational behaviour. I am not sure how this product is supposed to work. If I am in my kitchen where one of the Beolit 12's is placed and I want to listen to music from my iPhone via Airplay, first I have to turn the Beolit 12 on, then I have to wait

  • Re: MacMini into a Beosound 8 - How feasible?

Anyone know whether it is better to link via the 3.5mm jack to Phono or USB to USB? The MacMini has both outputs as does the Beosond 8. c.

  • MacMini into a Beosound 8 - How feasible?

All, I am about to take ownership of a Beosound 8 (dealer delivering on Monday). It has occured to me over this week that I could feed my existing MacMini (being used as a medi server) directly into the Beosound 8 via a 3.5mm to Phono Jack lead and then listen to all my iTunes based music via the Beosounds AUX input. Am I correct in this assumption
