I'm wondering if a Beosystem 5500 originally sold in USA can be plugged into Australian power points? I think both countries are 220 volts? Anyone know?

s i took out my cartridge and put it back. before that everything worked fine but after that i have no sound at all. i can get sound if i connect an external device like my dvd player or set top box, but don't get much volume. it doesnt matter if the volume control is at max or zero, it is exactly the same. so i can only get reasonable volume when

Thanks again. That's really exactly what I did but there was no buzz - just silence. But I can't really tell if I'm touching the contacts. There's a flat piece of metal where the stylus fits and that's all that I could seem to touch - my fingers are too large to get any further in. Maybe I should try gently poking a small screwdriver
