  • Re: Beolab 8000 Terminal Gone Mad!

I finally got around to looking into my 'mad' Terminal. I re-soldered all joints on the main board, and that indeed did it! All functions restored! Thanks for your advice, Mika! Rudy

  • Re: Beomaster 8000/6000 Remote IR Wavelength

This is becoming an increasingly interesting project...;-). I studied the LD271 datasheet . Do I understand it right (pg. 5 "Permissible pulse handling capability" graph) that if I run the diode at 40 kHz, that I can push it to ~2A pulse current at a <0.05 duty cycle? Is this the way they do it in 'professional' remotes? Though

5.4 on RL60s...he is doing something dangerous, I would say...;-).

Hi Mika, Outstanding!! Thanks much for the insight! I did not understand that the data signal to the LED is run on a carrier signal (the website you cited is a great intro). I understand from your discussion that all IR LEDs are compatible with any IR receivers in terms of emitted light wavelength, i.e. it would not matter if I used an IR LED with 850nm

  • Re: Beomaster 8000/6000 Remote IR Wavelength

Hi Mika, I am looking for the actual light wavelength emitted by the IR diodes in the Terminal. The carrier frequency can be inferred from the service manual where is states that each command consisting out of 8 bit and an equal-length "pause" period takes 48ms, i.e. one could say that each bit has a duration of 48ms/16=3ms, which would make

  • Beomaster 8000/6000 Remote IR Wavelength

Hi Fellow B&O Enthusiasts, I was wondering if anybody knew the infrared wavelength of the transmitters/receivers used in the Terminals for the Beomaster 8000/6000? The service manual does not seem to have any specific information about the IR LEDs etc... Thanks! Rudy

Thanks! I do not think a battery leaked in this one. The interior is clean and decent looking. No evidence of battery acid etc....but re-soldering is probably a good idea anyway.

  • Beolab 8000 Terminal Gone Mad!

Hi Vintage Community, I am writing about some strange behavior of my Beolab Terminal. Last night I turned of my Beomaster 8000. One minute later it was on again with the tuner blasting on P8. I thought, I maybe pressed the wrong button. So I turned it off again. Well, about 30 sec later it was on P8 again. I wondered if it might be the Terminal malfunctioning

  • SMD LEDs Storage/Moisture Sensitivity

Hi There, I am getting my stuff together to do some display rebuilding in my 8000 and 6000 Beomasters (thanks for all the great workbench posts explaining how to do it!). Am still waiting for my hot air rework station, but I just received the SMD LEDs and some SMD prototyping boards for practicing. After opening the Newark package, I could not help

  • Re: Beomaster 8000 Gets Warm Again...

Hi Martin, Thanks much for your kind reply! I only replaced the TIPs and the trimmers when the fry happened. When it heated up again, I replaced all electrolyte caps...but as we know now this did not have any impact...I will order the other semiconductors and the resistors in the vicinity (the two R237/236 were indeed a bit blackened back then...;-
