Decent review in Stuff..... also Beolit 12 is a first page click through feature on the "best of CES" email that I got today - decent bit of PR for the item & the brand. http://www.stuff.tv/news/ces/news-nugget/bang-olufsen-launches-beolit-12-airplay-speaker?utm_source=Silverpop&utm_medium=EMAIL&utm_campaign=Stuff%20E-News%2011
One good example is the Vertu: it's handmade in England. Compare it with an iPhone and most people would take the iPhone even if they were priced equally.
I may be wrong - but isn't the Vertu built on a re-engineered nokia platform, and is in effect a re-housed version of the standard Nokia chipset and

The whole point of B&O was that it wasn't for the general public. People who can afford B&O buy it regardless of price. I'm tried of hearing people complain about how expensive B&O is because it's not, at least not for the Danish made
In the future I think we will be making more stuff in africa after china is to much! Give it 10 years and someone will build a plant there producing something or another!
I saw it this afternooen. From my point of view it looks and sounds great. No bad finish at all! Design is very Cecilie Manz. The same gently curved edges, simplicity and texture as in many of her other designs. And not retro at all. Have a look when avaible in your country and make your own judgement.
Wise

  • Re: New products launch.

Moxxey - I assume its all about launching at the annual CES in the US - maybe lead times from the supplier has been an issue. I am sure they were aiming at the availability you describe - ity would be mad not to - in fact, I think they were aiming for Christmas at one point.

BS8 is selling OK in apple stores - not sure about worldwide, but certainly enough or apple to be happy. Also - the idea suggested here by some that apple buyers shun Chinese-made products with a premium price over "multibrand" is joke, surely. Whilst some apple kit is not too pricey, much of the ( Chinese) range is twice the price of similar

well, if it's about £500, consider the alternatives. Maybe this : http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.212-7441.aspx Which is kind of more like a Bsnd 8 - but even then, I'd have one Bsnd 8 over two of these anytime. I really like the Beolit 12 - and as stated before, it may actually finally tip me into buying an i-thing of some description.

It must be a generation thing. Well I'm 46 in a couple of weeks, so I'm not sure about that. Also - I do not own an i-anything ( although thsi speaker might convicne me to finally get an i-phone - or maybe change my crappy netbook for an i-thing of some description. BUT - I use Spotify many hours a day - via my home PC & link system mainly

Joey - Surely the idea is : You may have areas that don't warrant a standalone system, - or you go outside, but want some decent sound. You already have a digital source - iphone/pad/player etc via airplay... or any other audio phone/player/device via cable So - you use the Blit 12 speaker to upgrade the cr@ppy sound from your portable device.
