Hi Peter, I have no idea what Powerlink sockets are and why they might be a plus. Can you advise?

Has anyone had any experience buying from these guys? http://www.morethanav.co.uk/product/12330/Beosystem/ I'm pretty much sold on getting a 5000 or 5500 now with a view to enjoying it while putting together another system when the bug bites.

oh, and as for Ipod leads - mentioned in the topics of conversation. Not for me. I have only bought one mp3. It holds no attraction for me. I don't own an ipod. I can't imagine buying an album and not being able to read the liner notes and see which artists have contributed. This and the artwork and simple fact that I have something tangible

John, You're in the enviable position of having a collection. I can assure you that whatever I get it will be very special for me for quite some time.
One point I would make is that my first 'modern' piece of B&O was a 5000 stacking system - which is the only system I have let go from my collection

Burantek - the meandering nature of the thread is a joy to behold. I publish a range of soccer coaching books and newsletters and I'm constantly trying to get people to visit our forums to post and to do so regularly. They never do. Why? Well the threads never develop into conversations. What we have here is a written conversation and that's
Regarding the remote, please note you will definitely need one, as apart from the Beomaster 5000, none of the stacking systems actually have any controls on the units themselves!
Good point, well made! Thanks for everyone's input on the incompatibility, too.

Thanks guys, I see what you're saying Peter in relation to the 7000 (and every time I read what you say about it I'm drawn to it) but I think to an extent I have to take a bit of a gamble. Some elements are not so important to me. I know I can live without a remote for now, I only have a one bed flat with a total of 4 rooms so I don't need

The OP is back! And now I'm golden. I'll give you some more background. At present I am playing my CDs on my X-box with the beautiful sound of my LCD's built in speakers. "This has to stop", I finally say and resolve to get a stereo. Then, I get a massive urge to build a vinyl collection. I'm at a stage financially where I
