• MMC20E cartridge - back from the dead?

Hello everyone. I brought my Beogram 8000 to an audio forum-related get-together for show-and-tell. After letting everyone marvel at it's design and features, I cued up a record, and waited for it to do it's thing. Unfortunately, all I got was distorted sound out of one channel. No matter what I tried, the result was the same. I figured my MMC20E

  • Re: RX2+mmc4=snap crackle pop.
So I have a mint B&O RX2 TT. It is in outstanding shape. The Cartrige is a MMC4 with unknown hours gained from another player. I noticed that I had got some pops and crackle sounds most notibly when a silent portion of the LP on my older Beogram 2000 TT, hooked up to my vintage H/K reciever with a build in phono
BTW, I feel silly to ask this but how do I unplug the cartridge? The arm looks delicate and I don't want to damage it by trying to force it out. Also there aren't much space when the arm is in rest position.
I suggest not messing with the cartridge unless you intend to replace it. However, if you still

Welcome to the 8000 club! I used 3M Scotch brand double-sided foam tape to re-affix the aluminum cover to it's hinge, after I cleaned away the remnants of the original tape. Note: it is NOT easy to get the cover on perfectly on the first try! My first attempt at this failed utterly, and I had to remove the remnants of the new tape (harder to do

When it comes to integrated amplifiers with magnetic phono inputs, the main thing is age. Stereo equipment made before the early '90s is likely to have one; after that, as the equipment gets newer, it's chances of having a proper preamp lessens. As far as brands go, most decent integrated amps and receivers by Pioneer, Sansui, Marantz, Scott

  • Re: Beogram 3404

Welcome! I'll help as best as I can. What you will need to connect your Beogram 3404 is a preamplifier meant for moving magnet cartridges. The seller of your turntable was mistaken, as the cartridges used in these Beograms are actually considered "moving iron" (or, as Bang & Olufsen referred to them, "Moving Micro-Cross"

  • Re: Beogram cable question

A follow-up on this: Being the day of the release of the Beatles remastered CDs, I decided to try comparing the stereo imaging using the old Beatles releases. The track I selected was "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" from the 'white album', due to the fact that the lead vocals are almost entirely in the right channel, as is a quick drumbeat

  • Re: Cartridges for Beogram 8002

Hello, Martin. Your Beogram 8002 will accept any cartridge from the MMC1-MMC5 range. Unfortunately, they indeed have been out-of-production for some time now. As it stands, when it comes to old B&O cartridges (possibly even new-old stock ones), their internal suspension tends to disintegrate and fail over time. Fortunately, a company called SoundSmith

  • Re: Beogram cable question
Hello Adam, If the cable is an original 1980's B&O one, there is a fair chance that the DIN plug has a plastic cover that can be slid back to show the wiring inside. If you can get to see inside the plug, the left channel signal wire is on pin 3 (the second pin from one end of the ring of pins

  • Beogram cable question

Hello everyone. As you probably know from my other thread, I have a Beogram 8000. Unlike all of the other Beograms I've owned, it has a female DIN connector in the back, rather than the usual hardwired cable. Whoever bought this, it being intended for a non-B&O setup, had it fitted with a male 5-pin DIN-to-RCA cable, with the standard US ground
