  • Re: DACMagic and Macbook Pro

I have an old Arcam Alpha 8 Integrated Amp: http://www.wired4sound.net.au/amplifiers/arcam_alpha8/arcam_alpha8.html Will this be suitable to use with DACMagic as the sound control?? Or am I better off getting the Apogee Duet to get a better sound quality?

So if I go down the route of DACmagic. Any recommendation for the volume control interface then? i.e. any particular brand/model? And any recommended retailer in surrey or online for DACmagic? Thanks for the advice so far!

  • DACMagic and Macbook Pro

I'm planning to get a DACMagic to connect with my Macbook Pro. But looking at the photo of the DACMagic there is no volume control. So does that mean I can and need to control the volume from my laptop? I'm planning to plug Beolab3 directly to the DACMagic. And is the best connection I should use between laptop and DACMagic is USB? Thanks.

So according to soundproof it is normal to expect the popping sound? I don't need to contact Apple to get my Macbook Pro fixed? I have no problem in investing a DAC once I know that the pops are something normal for the sensitive speakers such as Beolab3.

Can I double checked then before I go out and buy a DAC. So hearing the loud random popping sound doesn't mean that my MacBook Pro has got a problem with its sound card? This is not the sound of beolab3 turning on and off, I know that's normal. This is more like electrical interference. So it is normal to hear it with Macbook pro and Beolab3

  • Macbook Pro and DAC and Beolap3

Hi, I've been recommended to get a DAC for my Macbook Pro to use with my Beolab3. Will this improve the sound quality significantly? I've been suggested Cambridge DacMagic but I think this is a bit too much for what I need as I will use it purely just for my laptop. Any other recommendation (cheaper)?? Thanks you.

  • Beolab3 and Macbook Pro

Hi, I've a Beolab 3 connected directly to Macbook Pro's headphone output (using cable converter) and if Beolab3 is on and if I unplug the cable from the laptop then it will make a crackling sound. I assume this is not good for the speakers? (I usually have to unplug the Beolab3 before I unplug the cable which is a pain) But the main problem
