I had them paired with some RL 60.2's and RL 140's which were fantastic.
I'm surprised it matched with RL 140, I thought it would need BM8000 to work properly.
You need to have a chat to Tim. He has been comparing the Beomaster 5000 against the 5500 and reckons the 5000 blows the only slightly later 5500 into the weeds. It would appear the pre-amp is the weak link as this is very different between the models. - I am going to use a 4400 which I find to be flatter than the Beolab
The Beovox 5700s, by the way, are very similar to the Celestion Ditton 66s in that they both use the Celestion HF2000 tweeter and Celestion's large dome midrange. The 5700, however, has a 10" passive radiator and a 10" stamped woofer ( Phillips AD 1056 - W8 ), whereas the Ditton 66 has a 12" cast woofer
In light of other posts it would be interesting to hear the M100's from the 5500 and the 5000 to see if the 5000 is genuinely a better amp (I'm biased as I've had the 5000 from new and love it to bits albeit only ever through RL60's)..
How do you like your rl60's? I am really tempted to get
....but once up to spec I can confirm the amp's sound is nice, clean, detailed, even at lower volumes. Also pairing them with the right spec'd speakers helps the overall experience imo.
Hey, cooldude, thank for your detailed answer. What do you think of BM8000 relative to BM5000? I am thinking of eventually
My favorite B&O product is the only one I've had the pleasure of owning the Beocord 9000. Beautiful design and one of the best super decks IMHO. I use mine every day for recording and playback of my extensive cassette library. Although it may not have the best transport mechanics the recording technologies

Finally, got in touch with the person responsible for selling the unit. So far based on what he has told me, the unit needs service bad. It's been sitting on the basement for more than a decade. It's an estate item. He offered to send it to a technician for test for additional $50, which is reasonable. My question is: The caps in the pre-amp

I discovered this treasure while cruising the youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg2rRDjX8OI
Well, it depends... there are different levels of "working". If the Beomaster, although "working", needs service as so many of eBay finds end up needing, ....
Indeed. The seller claims that it's in excellent working condition, and MCP communicates with it. He's got 100% approval

I was cruising the ebay, and thought this was a good deal. They are both working. Is this a good deal or not?
