Listening to some basic 80's Europop "Pet Shop Boys" on a Beogram 3000 I fixed Sunday. I still think that my BG3000, BM3000 and CDX setup is my most attractive.

When I restored my Beocenter last year i found about 5 or 6 leaky caps scattered throughout the system and I did replace the idle current trimmers they had drifted away from the original setpoint. It is a great set. I am listening to it right now. Cant remember - not sure if the 7700 had an overload sensor installed that would cut power or not.

You could always reinstall your CD's into iTunes as lossless files.. I use ITunes a lot simply because I can put together a day long playlist and not have to constantly change discs. Put Beosystem 5000 to rest last week and rediscovered the wonderful sound of my Beocenter 7700. If you like vinyl and want a dedicated record player you cant go wrong

The whole beosystem 5000 is worth the effort to restore. I have restored a few myself and would not hesitate for one minute to do it all over again if the right deal were to come along - again.
Yeah, but then you give them away!!!
I cant keep them all. That would be selfish

Used a simple and cheap car
