Some CDs it will scan and display the tracks, then switch off, some it won't scan at all, a few it will play but with massive distortion, and others it will play perfectly. I have recently acquired an elderly Beomaster amp with no mains plug. One mains feed wire is blue, the other black. Does anyone know which is live. There appears to be a 'build sheet' inside the casing, which I haven't extracted yet, maybe this will reveal the answer? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I am an audio novice, so please forgive what may seem like an inane question... The time has come for me to stitch together a system from various odds and ends including a Beogram 3500 CD player and a Beomaster 3000 amp/receiver. The outputs/inputs seem to bear no resemblence to each other, and certainly won't fit together without revised connectors
