  • Re: Sub woofer addition

Ciao, I have 8000s as well. I'm using an Adcom power amp to drive my old (refoamed) large Advent speakers, circa 1978 (famous for their deep rich bass) set up as as subwoofers. To accomplish this, I bought on EBAY a Dalquist external crossover, which is hooked up between the pre-out jacks from my NAD 3200 pre-amp, and the rca cables running to the

  • Re: beolab 8000 RCA jack broken inside

Thanks, Easier than I thought it would be. A nut on the back of the RCA jack simply needed to be tightened (loose connection). Its working and sounding fine now!

  • beolab 8000 RCA jack broken inside

Hi, I have a Beolab 8000 problem (just purchased the speakers, 3 yrs old)- on one speaker, the RCA line-in jack has a broken internal connection (accidently tugged on the connection cable while pulling preamp out of cabinet, hours after these speakers arrived!). Has anyone dissassembled the cone base of an 8000 to access the jack? I've downloaded

  • Re: CX100 driver differences etc...

Another question for you... I took the back off the cx100s, and the cap that's there says 6.8uf 63 v- does it make a difference if the replacement cap is 6.8uf 250 v? I had a second look at the woofer magnets... and I was wrong! The bottom woofer dies indeed have a vent hole, the top woofer does not! James

  • CX100s vs Pentas vs 8000s

Austin, My only complaint with the pentas is there sheer size. I was recently in a B&O store in Toronto (where I'm from, but living in the U.S. at present), and had a good long listen to the 8000s- I thought they sounded fabulous (and from a regular CD on a Beocenter 1 -the eliptical one). I would imagine they'ed sound even better with my

  • Re: CX100 driver differences etc...

Thanks again Austin, I'll give it a try nonetheless- It is becoming again somewhat of a hobby for me, as it was back when I was a teenager. Here's my setup: I'm considering a pair of used 2yr.old B&O 8000s, to use as my main speakers in my living room (I have the cx100s in my study). The 8000s may replace the "Large Deluxe Advent"

  • Re: CX100 driver differences etc...

Thanks for the advice- I'm having difficulty reading the label on the capacitors... I can see "din 41236 bipolar." There's more, but I can't read it. Would you happen to know the other info I need to order new caps? Thanks! James

  • Re: CX100 driver differences etc...

Hi, I new to this forum (recently joined) I have recently aquired a pair of cx100s, and just finished refoaming them. The woofers in my units are absolutely identicle (no holes on either), but examination of the crossover suggests that they are indeed crossed over at different frequencies- the negative leads of the upper and lower woofers are connected
