  • Re: Amplifier Replacement

Strange problem, sounds like a short or mutting problem but that's only a guess on my part. Here's another suggestion how about getting a Beolab 200 amplifier and run it through your 4500 via powerlink?

  • Re: Choosing Speakers...

soundproof: Well, the TAD speakers are USD 60.000/pair, require expensive amplifiers that are a lot more powerful than your older B&O system, and the jury is out on whether they are "the world's best sound" once you want to play around with that kind of money. Its hard to say one is the best over all the others when you get into this

  • Re: Speakers & best B&O CD player for Beomaster 8000

For 14k I would certainly hope it would! I should have mentioned that I have not heard either the CDX or CD104 I'm basing this mainly on specs and real world experience I had back in the mid 1980s while working in a recording studio. We compared a Nakamichi 14 bit pcm recorder with a Sony 16 bit one, recording the same material in both. Side by

AdUk: think I'll check out a CDX. From what I have read the CDX is based upon the old Philips CD 104 player. That unit is not a true 16 bit CD player, its only 14 bits. What does this mean? It means you loose some dynamic range of the CD, I suppose if you only listen to contempary rock music where they smash everything to make it as loud as possible

  • Re: Best B&O cassette deck?

Thanks for all the information. I'm checking out the 8004 right now as I type this. For starters it looks great, one small chip in the vener but other then that it looks nearly new. Playing it my old tapes sounds great, probably better then a twenty year old cassette should. :D Now the downside, fast forward and reverse don't work, I take it

  • Best B&O cassette deck?

Kind of a redundant question in this digital/mp3 age, but my recent acquisition of a beocord 5500 got me thinking, what do people think is the best cassette deck B&O made? I found another deck, this one an 8004 and was wondering how this one stacks up against the others? I've read the product site and was just looking for some real world feedback

Thanks for the link, when I have some free time I will give that a try. I guess I posted this in the wrong forum, next time it will be the workbench for my repair questions.

  • 5500 BeoCord face plate?

Hi all, My first post here. I recently aquired off of ebay a BeoCord 5500 cassette deck. It appears that this was not packed very well (the box it came in was three meat packing boxes taped together!) with the result being the face plate appears to have been damaged slightly. It looks like the metal behind the plate has been bent a bit on the left side
