I finally figured out. What a numbskull I am. I was using a screw on the turntable that turned out not to be a good ground. After testing continuity with my meter I discovered the problem. All is well now and my beogram sounds incredible. Thanks for the help Chris!! Coho in Alaska.

Thanks for the fast response Chris, I have a ground wire connected directly from the turntable chassis to the reciever chassis but still get the same hum. I can hear minor "crackling" when I first attached the wire, does that mean it is a good or bad ground connection? Any other ideas will be appreciated. This is frustrating. Coho

I have a Beogram 5500 turntable and have purchased the 5 pin to RCA adapter cable so I can connect it to my Yamaha AV reciever I am having to run it through a phono preamp because my reciever does not have a phono input. Anyways, I am getting a speaker hum that is noticable between tracks and it increases with the volume. I have the ground wire connected
