sorry for taking so long to reply but computer crashed and only just got it back. Have connected a scart as suggested and hey presto the video is working again. thanks for all your replies.

Recently moved house and the video player no longer works just a white screen. When looking through the user and set up guide the diagram showing therear socket panel shows a decoder, AV and blank area for the V. Tape when I look at the rear of my tv under the space marked V Tape there is actually a socket for the connection of the built in video recorder
