I have checked all the connections and the same problem still exists.

I have recently acquired a Beotalk 1100, but it will not seem to answer calls. I notice that the small handset symbol is permanently on suggesting that a phone on the same phone line is in use, but this is not the case. Is this a faulty machine, or is there some simple answer?
