Keith many thanks for your reply. I am not at all sure if my engineer has checked the voltages as you suggest and he earthed the Sky box so not sure what he did (me decidedly untechnical). We do not have an analogue aerial plugged in. I will suggest all this to my engineer as he is calling later in the week - almost a member of the family he has been

Yes, it is a B&O engineer and yes it is as if the set is off although the SAT is lit up on top of the screen and the Sky box is switched on.

Dear all, I am new to this and wondered if anyone else has had a problem like this. I have an Avant DVD 28" which is nearly four years old with a Sky+ box which has been attached for two years. Over the last two months I have had a problem when turning the set on. When I press SAT on the Beo4 the tv responds, SAT lights up and turns the Sky box
