It is connected via RCA plugs into the phono inputs. I'm not sure, but the RCA cables appear to be original to the unit.

I played around with the springs under the platter to raise it a bit. Looks much more level now. I'm getting noise (but pretty faint music) out of it now. My brother has an fairly good condition MMC4 that I may borrow to see if the problem is in my cartridge.

Thank you both. You're right about it being worth it. I was just a little frustrated when I found that the BC8004 was malfunctioning too. I know it is really nice equipment with a timeless style. And a little maintenance on 25 year old equipment is to be expected. I'll put these two (BM8000 and BC8004) on the back burner until I get the BM6000

Thanks Soundchoice70, It is more of a band-aid than a real fix. I can still here some static in the treble if I put the iTunes preamp level all the way up. Also, it seems the whole kit is going to need a check. The tape deck (BM8004) I discovered tonight does nothing when I press the play, rewind, or fast forward buttons. It had been a while since I

I placed a call into my repair shop today and they said they'd 'call me back soon' and let me know which part it is they're after. In the meantime, I've found a somewhat inelegant solution to my problem with the BM8000. I simply turned up the pre-amp output setting on iTunes. Oh well, it works for the time being.

Thanks Martin, I'll check into getting the caps, but I wonder if I should let the shop finish the BM6000 job before I give them this one as well. They say that their waiting on a part (searching for the part for at least a year now). Perhaps I'll find out which 'part' it is and have a try with the great folks here at Beoworld.

Thanks! Yes, I agree that the BS8000/6000 are wonderful designs and timelessly modern. I tried everything I could think of with regards to troubleshooting the problem. The static remains with the T1 input (connected to a BC8002) and even with the T2 input (computer) disconnected. I tried both the Speakers 1 and 2 outputs as well. It's interesting
