Hello everyone - what is the current state of play regarding the balance/bass/treble sliders on the 1900? Last time the sliders went wonky on my BM1900 I had to do that minute surgery of glueing all that parts back together, but alas the fault has returned and I don't fancy spending hours rebuiling the wiper/slider again. Has anyone found a replacement

You are duty bound to save the 1900. If nothing else when you get it home just give it a wipe over with a wet soapy cloth to pick off all the crod. Even if it doesn't work it's something good to look at. It is possible to reduce the scratches. - not seen this so had to use it!

You see there is not much to be happy about in West Yorks, so I can understand the negative feelings towards the party smiley. Also it's a Yorkshire thing, to be miserable. Yorkies seem to relish being in a cloud of gloom, a bit like "pig in sh!t" type of thing. Another way to bring gloom is to say it's not manly, not butch. Strangely

The user manual for the BM 1900 is quite boring, I guess the 1900 is so easy to use who needs a manual?? But for a scan check this: http://homepages.tesco.net/~david.barraclough/ make your way via "other stuff" on the menu to Beomaster 1900 and near the bottom you will find scan of said doc. It's a bit dull.

I agree the most likely cause is a faulty balance slider, they do age and go faulty. Either the carbon track deteriorates or the plastic carrage mechanism fractures. Typical probs are when sound comes and goes, scratchy with blank spots, steps in volume. In my case the actual slider/wiper mechanism had broken leading to major surgery. I did a web search
