The backlight is an electroluminescent panel in BL7000, and they can stop working. Check for ~120V AC at the two wires which feed the backlight sheet. If the voltage is present, then the EL material has failed. It can be purchased either from RS or from china via ebay, or elsewhere. http://newzealand.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html

Hi Peter, Has anyone been able to assist with this? I may have a copy of the Century service manual stashed away in the attic, will check and let you know.

Thanks Martin. I'll contact Frede and see if he can assist...

Thanks for the info. The 40349V1 is an high voltage transistor with integrated heatsink, I'd prefer to find an original or similar device to keep the board looking tidy. The other SE metal can transistors are pretty generic, it just the 40349V1 which is proving hard to replace.

Check all 5 speaker drivers for short circuit voice coils with a multimeter. Disconnect them before measuring.

Hi all, My restoration project - a water damaged beolab 5000 amplifier has run into a small snag. I need to source some replacement transistors, from the powersupply section. 1 x 40349V1 or equivalent 2 x SE8002 or equivalent 1 x SE7001 or equivalent Also, I need to find some replacement output coupling capacitors 3000uF 50V in a similar size to the

Hi Lee, The red displays in the control center are the same type as the ones in MKIII pentas. There are 4 modules in an AV9000, and 3 per penta display. If you have to scrap another AV9000, then you'd have enough display modules to make a set of Pentas with red displays, if you so desire. Looks really nice when paired with a Beosound 9000.

Reassembly in progress. This project has been slow due to a number of screws which rusted solid into the chassis, and had to be drilled out and retapped.
