I'm wondering what finish would look best- Matt, gloss, satin?

I am starting to restore a pair of redline 140s and the stands have quite a bit of rust and paint missing. Does anyone have any ideas how I could repaint to either a very similar finish to the original, or something that would look suitable for the black redlines? Any ideas appreciated.
