I read elsewhere on here that some mirror panels have the flat grey factory paint finish underneath, some people were just removing the polished layer to reveal the near new factory grey finish underneath. I think this was on the 9500 mirror panels. not sure it applies to the 4500.

reviving this thread- Did a remote come with the BC9000 originally? I have an option to buy a 9000 with a Beolink1000 remote for $500 USD.
