Thanks very much indeed for the helpful replies which give me some hope that all is not lost! I am located in South Shropshire. The repair man (friend of a friend so hard to re-contact) has sent back a thin nylon cable about 2 feet long with loops at both ends, one attached to a spring. Maybe this is the nylon pully cable? He says something has snapped

I've had a Beogram 3300 record turntable from new since 1987 (Type 5931) (Serial No 05021793). It now doesn't work. The arm won't track across to the edge of the record. My local repair man has taken it to pieces and says it needs a new part (don't know which one). B & O at Shrewsbury (my nearest town) say parts for this model cannot
