Really? I thought (assumed??) that the SP cartridges were moving coils and the MMC ones moving magnets. The phono stage is switchable yes, I'll give that a try right now!

Hi, I have a Beogram 3000 (5228), which I am connecting to a non B&O amplifier. I have a DIN to RCA adapter cable connected to the phono stage of the amp (MC), an old Cyrus One. Everything works fine, except that the output from the turntable is very loud. Say if I turn the amp volume to 1 it is barely audible, but on 2 it is as loud as the CD player
