Speaker switches are on, Fm/Am all light up and switch, just no output through the speakers.

Having worked faultlessly for 30+ yrs, my son has just plugged in an i-pod via the tape input. This worked initially, but now I can't get any output at all. All power indications are normal, and the fuses under the lid all appear intact. Anyone got any helpful pointers.
