I swapped the lamp for a 3mm red LED and resistor. Works great, and now no more lamp to fail. Cheers, Ben

burantek: well, don't tell my wife about this "legend" thing... 84 5000s 2v sd -no wing, and yes... w/w! Where's the 'this thread is useless without pictures' icon :) ?

After reading http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm I have abandoned buying thick, impressive looking cable, and an now back to using 'basic' 14/16 gauge cable! Have a search for the Philips 16 Gauge on google, its nice quality, and is reasonably priced. Although I have used 1 or 1.5mm2 2 core flex for installations where the wire is hidden

That does sound pretty old school... My dream combo would be white with white interior - and I dont mean just white seats, it would be white dash, door panels, headliner etc. I could pretend that I was Don Johnson in Miami Vice :) Mine is an 84, the first year of the S2 with the hotter engine and 4 speed auto.

Its nothing spectacular like metallic yellow! Its a shade of metallic black, and also has a 'to customers spec' interior, Black leather with red piping and detailing. It was originally a Porsche demonstration car, so I guess that they wanted it to be a little bit different. Cheers, Ben

Hi Craig :) It could have been original paint... Porsche offered a 'match paint to customers sample' service. My own 928 has this treatment! As others mention, metallic yellow wasn't on Porsche's list of standard colours. Cheers, Ben

If you have a dead channel, then as far as I am aware, the cartridge is scrap. And I also don't think Soundsmith retip B&O cartridges anymore, unless special arrangements have been made with them. There is a company in Germany who offer a retipping service for B&O and other cartridges, but the name escapes me at the moment.

I agree with Stefan, I bought a phono cartridge from him a few years back, and he was very professional and helpful. The 25% VAT is probably what they are taxed in Sweden, which would be applied if the sale is within the EU. Cheers, Ben

Any 'normal' speakers can be used with the Beomaster 5500, you just need the 2 pin DIN plug to plug into the speaker outlets, available from most online electronic retailers, like RS, CPC, Maplin etc. As far as quad and stereo.... I think you must be getting mixed up with the 4 speaker outlets, these are two stereo pairs. Cheers, Ben

I'm not familiar with the 8004, but normally there is a collar around the socket on the PCB that needs to be popped up in order for the ribbon to be removed/inserted. Maybe someone who knows this model better can advise. Cheers, Ben
