I'd be happy to bypass the switch temporarily if I knew the location and the method of bypass. I'm an amateur at this, hence the requirement for the information. As far as dealers in Australia go, there are only a few and there is a reluctance to sell a part to an amateur not connected with the dealer or service network - very protective as

Seems as though this may be a common problem, my 5005 is having the same problem ( except it is the left channel that's low ). Are parts for these older machines still supported by B & O, or have they decided their obsolescence by no longer supplying parts ? I'm a tad isolated living in Tasmania, Australia ( no jokes you mainlanders ! )

I too have the same problem - symptoms the same, one channel very low then when the arm lifts, momentarily, there is the full level of sound. Is this muting switch available anywhere. Part number 7400293 Given that I don't have a servicing agent in this state, can anyone recommend a dealer, in any country, who might be prepared to order the part

Strewth Blue !! It is louder without the belt, still with ticking. Is there no way this can be lubricated ? That is a shame and you're correct. A little drop of clock oil on the shaft did nothing. I'd be most grateful and pleased to purchase a new motor, or a good known second hand one. Is this a reasonably accessible part with regard to removal

I have a beogram 5005, new to me today which will be my turntable, just as soon as a couple of issues are sorted. It has been in storage for nearly 6 years and is very noisy in operation, you can hear the motor making a ticking sound. Is it possible to lubricate the motor in some way ? I would like to service, clean and lubricate the unit if I could

Thanks Dave, that's as comprehensive an answer as any bloke could want. I'm well armed with cotton buds and a formidable array of brushes. I particularly took note of your comment to try to fire the piece up first and foremost. Thanks again for the advice, very much appreciated.

I've purchased a 5000 system, 5005 turntable, 5000 cassette deck, CD50 cd player, beomaster 5000, a couple of remotes with at least one which lights up and RL 45-2 speakers. Delivery to me will be on Saturday ( Oz time ). The excitement of it all, my first B & O. It has been in storage for 6 years, obviously not covered or protected. In short

Hi Peter, Thanks for the offer mate. Prior to receiving this message, the seller emailed me and is peeved at me not wanting to take the whole system, so have offered to pay his listing and final value fees, suggesting he relist the CDX2 player separate. Sometimes ebay sellers can be difficult to please. Of course if anyone else wants the rest of the
-
Isn't there anyone interested in this ? The CDX2 is the only thing I need, the rest isn't worth ( for me ) the extortionate cost of postage to Australia by Parcel Force.

I've just purchased on ebay this system but only require the CDX2. Here's the ebay # number 200169215081 for a better description. Is there someone, who would be prepared to pick up this system from the Perthshire and Kinross area, ( Perth specifically ) and send me the CDX player via Parcel Force air, then keep the rest as payment ? Failing
