You can buy the Goldmund blu-ray player if you want the best, but it's not cheap (12000,-) . I should look at a Panasonic BD55 in the range 300,-. Very good player with the latest technologies.

Is the game region free, NTSC or PAL ? When you play NTSC games on a PAL tv you will see only black and white.

Don't know what kind of software the BM5 uses, but 90% of all virus programms are made for Windows. The other 9,99% is Mac and Linux so the change that there is a special B&O virus is very small.

It must be a horrible feeling to see that the lights don't work. I think the power supply died after 22 years, but it should be possible to fix this..

Just buy a pre-amp from a brand you like (you can think about one with hdmi ports), and connect the beolabs to the outputs on the back (you will need some rca to din cables). The only thing you have to make is a 12v trigger for the automatic on/off function (there was a topic a few weeks ago with the how-to-make-it). For the image I would look at a
