    Jandyt:

The older systems are still wonderful. I've had the pleasure of listening to a BeoMaster 900 and BeoVox 500s recently (sadly not 600s), and there's something very 'fun' about listening on these older systems. It's kinda like saying 'the sound doesn't matter, only the music'. I'm looking for an older system like this just for the fun of it!

Be careful Alex. It's like a mutation of the Beovirus, you'll end up with a housefull, like me.

I know the feeling. Last summer I saw a Beomaster 900K (the wide one with built-in speakers) at a flea market, and immediately knew I had to have it. I knew before what B&O was, but that was about it. The salesperson said I could bring it back if it didn't work. Fat chance! I had to fix one of the output stages and still have work on the stereo decoder. But it's actually a really good radio, considering it's over 40 years old germanium technology. And so lovely with the lights on!

Then I got a BC2800. And recently a Beomaster 1000 I couldn't pass, and of course I had to get model 2200 speakers to go with it! Every now and then I just turn it on, listen to one song, then turn it off and smile for quite a while Smile

Snap, we have a Beomaster 900K in the Kitchen. Also have a full Beosystem 1000 in the Bedroom. Which colour Beomaster 1000 do you have? I have the earlier White version. Took me a while to find one but worth the wait. It was a White Beomaster 1000 that was my first piece of B&O. that original packed up a few years back. then I decided to go for the full system.

I was watching that one! Decided to chicken out as there have been loads of boxes arriving at the house recently and arriving home with yet more B&O might not have gone down well.

Are you forming a collection of well-used Beomaster 1500's ?

It's black in rosewood, I guess one of the latest versions with silicon transistors (which I actually prefer - it was a bit of work to find a working AD139 to replace the burned one in the 900K) and stereo decoder as standard. I do think the white version looks better though, and the miniature frequency scale in the front would be helpful. I will certainly buy a suitable Beogram to go with it if I ever come across one that isn't too far away or expensive.

I still can't decide whether the BM1000 is really handsome or butt-ugly :-)

What's really striking in these old systems is the quality of the woodwork. I'd think any craftsman would be impressed.

The 900K/900 actually sound surprisingly good, despite their age. Very cool with all the lights off...

i think we should call it 'classic' bno not OLD

i don't think anyone could call some of jacob jensen's masterpieces old looking , do you ? :)

i still maintain that the 70's and early 80's gear was arguably the most futuristic looking a/v equipment ever made

the real time tape counter on the beocords for example

     amazing !!!

Yes, my BM900 has a lovely warm sound to it. Something you seem to get on equipment that age.
