There are four announcements in the http://www.bang-olufsen.com/newsroom

    1. BeoLit 12
    2. BeoPlay brand
    3. BeoLab 12
    4. Beovision 12

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Re: Beolab 12

I will admit, I don't like to look of this speaker but an intersting thought just occurred to me about this speaker that makes me dislike it a little less.

The fact that the tweeter is at the bottom has suddenly made me like the orientation theory. I have a pair of BeoLab5000s and I have them wall mounted at what I think is an appropriate height - visually. However, what isn't exactly great about the vertical placement of the speakers is the height of the tweeter. As a result, the listening experience is degraded slightly.

I also think that wall speakers, unless very small, are able to be setup properly so that they can look good on the wall and perform well at the same time.

The Lab 12 solves this by bringing the ALT down to a reasonable height for proper listening. I like that a lot!

I liked the idea that they showed the speaker in two orientations - ALT at the top ... and another view with ALT at the top.  Gives a wider range of placement options ...

    Re: Beolab 12

What I see here is a very, very interesting new speaker design : wall mounted, flat, shiny, with acoustic lens...

Have you noticed that B&O says that the Beovision 12 integrated speaker, which is very small and flat (in fact, it looks even flatter than a Beovision 8) is design to be used with Beolab 5? That's interesting. We will have to listen to that!

A big mistake in my eyes : the light is a very good work, illuminating the full acoustic lens... But it's too much light while watching a movie...

    Re: Beolab 12

From seeing and hearing these at an event in late 2011 i can say that they sound amazing and look excellent in real life.

Very pretty and would also take on a role of a price of Art located within my alcoves either side of my fireplace.

the sound is amazing the only flawi think its that the green bright light looks plastic and cheap to me but the rest is outstanding.

i hope they change the Green / Red to more like the lab 9 descrete and not cheap looking.

Like many B&O stuff you need to see and experience them in the flesh in order to judge. I understood they will come in white as well, which I think is something I will like better than the shiny ones.

Probably a nice alternative to having BL6000 on the wall.

    Re: Beolab 12

It will be interesting to see if B&O has better luck with wall mounted speakers this time around.  The Beolab / Beovox 3000 and 5000 may be loved on this site but they where never a sales success.  The extra cost for installation plus the difficulty of getting wife approval for wall space made them a hard sale.  The Penta's introduced as the same time however were a hugh success?  Maybe they will have a floor standing version.  Didn't someone mention there would be different sizes?

I agree that the light seems a little strong.  Hopefully that is just the way the photo was done to highlight it for the press.

Placement will also be a challenge since the alt speaker needs to be at ear level +/- 42" for the best sound balance since the vertical dispersion of alt speakers is low.  It will need to be at the bottom most of the time unless the speaker and screen are setting on the floor. Smile

The user guide is now on the official website; the speakers have the new RJ45PL plugs, plus a new setting (line 1 or 2) for sensitivity adjustment.

And the guys kept the 3 position switch (free/wall/corner) but don't recommend using the "free" position setting Stick out tongue

Can anybody understand how this speaker work? I only can see acoustic lens for  small midrange  speaker  and a tweeter in the lower part, but what about the rest of the structure where  I cannot see more  holes...

I think I read somewhere the light gets dimmer after a few minutes.

I like the speakers but there is too much brght aluminum.  I hope these speakers will be available in solid white.

Beolit 12 is in the stores now. I have had one for 3 weeks. It uses AirPlay for a wireless connection or the 30 pin connector for docking mode.

The new versions of PowerLink cables DIN<>RJ 45 as well as RJ 45<>RJ 45
are available from B&O since last year.

My local dealer has some of them already on stock ...
