    Locked Contact
    Hello,

I am staring at those two boxes and I don't know where to start from. Is there a guide how to unpack safely this boxes?

    Thanks

Yes indeed. They are new in boxes.

Eventually I'll figure it out... I just wonder whether the box need to be in a particular position before opening.

Edward, thanks for your reply but please, don't ask me that.....

I'll have a "big" day tomorrow in moving around some other heavy furniture.

I got mine earlier this year. Mine were on pallets. All I had to do was opening the boxes working from the top down to the bottom. No problems at all.

    Don't worry Maab, I understand!

It's just fun to share such a moment with beofans like us.

About the BL5 boxing, if the 2 boxes are the same as for the Beovision's, you just have to remove the cap of the box and be careful when removing the white polystyrene protection cause it is maintained by 4 vertical tubes that use to stick to it and fall... Hope you understand my explaination.

Of course check if the boxing is in the right side like this Stick out tongue

    Have a nice BL5 day!

Just open the top ... the rest is self explaining.

There is just one thing: They are really heavy ... 66kg each ... it is better to have a helping hand, when you want to move it from the pallet.

I found it best to get grips to the bigger "plate" of the BL5 ... better don't try to work with the bass cabinet to move them.

Ok, I understand it's better move them down the pallet by holding the larger disk from underneath.

Interesting one pallet is taller than the other.

Thank you very much for your inputs.

    Snake,

It may look stupid to you, who cares. I have seen worst, and it's not that bad.

Beside, thanks to these postings I learned where to grab those things... I would have thought twice doing that.

I once received a speaker boxed in a way where the box had to be upside down, in order to facilitate the installation.

Don't worry Maab, there is no stupid question!

The important for you is to be sure of how to do your installation the best way as possible....We're talking about a 18K€ pair of speakers here!!!

As each BL5 is 61 kg weight, you should ask for a friend's help to be quiet.

If there was a special way for a Beolab 5 box or any other box to be opened then it would be marked as such.

As each speaker in on a pallet and weighs 65 kgs I just cannot understand why the most simple task needs clarification.

If the post related to the handling of the speaker once unboxed I could appreciate it more - the easiest way to lift these is one hand on the lower edge and one hand under the large rim - one person either side - taking care just to get a grip on the outside edge at the bottom and not to depress the bass cone in any way.  I have lifted these speakers on my own without too much trouble in an emergency anyway.

How about I have a can of Coke, is there a special way to use he ring pull to open it?!?!

    I'll get my coat.

Look, with a name like yours I am not surprised that you took the trouble to make such a statement. In person, however, I doubt you would be doing the same...just think about that.

I asked the question because I wanted to be sure to put the boxes in the right position before opening and installing ...by my self! Being impulsive by nature I could have rushed in a mistake that I would have regretted it. It's a simple question that requires a simple answer.

As I said previously I bought in the past speakers that required the box to be put upside down before opening.

I never even touched the bl5 before and by looking at them (excuse me!) they seem not easy to handle without causing damage.

Further, the boxes have so much plastic-wrapping around that I can't see what's written on it.

No one is twisting your arm to force a reply out of your ego.

I apologise if I caused any offence, a question how to open a box makes me laugh.

Your initial question was not about handling the speakers at all - which is understandable - but on opening the box.

I still find it amusing, happy to offer advice on handling them but on opening a box?

Maybe I rely too much on common-sense.

Why did you take the plastic wrapping off without seeking advice first whether it is ok to do so?

Winding you up now, good luck with your new speakers.

    Good Point Leslie

    1) Beolab 5 are not 18000 Euros anyway - or at least nobody I know has paid that for a new pair

    2) Unless bought from a pre-owned reseller or private sale the Dealership should have installed

    All in jest anyway.

    1. Take your watch off your wrist and rings off your fingers. You may also want to consider not wearing a belt while getting the speakers in place. You don't want to scratch the large aluminium platter once you begin.

    2. Removing the box is easy to do.

    3. The speakers are easy to move. Just do what they do in Struer, or the B&O installer does, roll them along the floor like a beer keg. I've done so many times, even on my wooden floors, without the speakers leaving a mark. Tip them over a bit, and rotate the large aluminium disk with your hands. You don't have to lift the speakers.

    4. Fiddle with connections and enjoy.

I think KOS meant that no-one pays the asking price. Which is pretty normal, I would expect 20% discount on speakers at 18K.

You should have a friend with you when you move them. I used my wife. Laughing
